2014 AJSBA Tour Round 4 and Results

2014 Jetski Nationals 159Sponsored by Yamaha, TWT Concrete Pumping and Jettribe

It was a perfect morning in Sans Souci NSW when the final round of the 2014 AJSBA Championship Tour unleashed into the Georges River at the St George Sailing Club.  Made possible by the ongoing support of Yamaha Waverunner, Jettribe and our newest sponsor TWT Concrete Pumping, there were old and new faces to be found on the beach preparing for a competitive round.

With a few racers lost to injury, the morning started with Pro/Am Lites and GP Ski combined. The Lites class was dominated by the Yamaha Superjet and eventually taken out by Ryan O’Keefe, with Michael Stevens coming in 2nd and Sean Thomson bringing up 3rd.

2014 Jetski Nationals 039The GP Ski class was neck and neck with Joel Barry on his Hydrospace and James X-Man Xuereb on his Yamaha 1200 Superjet matching each other heat for heat. The final result came down to a countback and a late surge awarded the 1st place podium spot to James, with Joel celebrating a rare 2nd place.

Yamaha Factory rider Dennis Mack (D-Mack) had been a formidable presence across the tour thus far and we were lucky enough to have him join us again in the Pro/Am Stock Runabout class in the final round. Another honour was the participation of Simon Scaturchio and we thank Simon and Tony for attending and their ongoing commitment to the sport.  At the end of the day it was Seadoo rider Shane Stuart who managed to out-race D-Mack for 1st place, with D-Mack a close 2nd and fellow Yamaha rider Mitchell Wayt in 3rd.

2014 Jetski Nationals 127The Pro/Am Open Runabout class was full of familiar faces. Current number 1 plate holder James Masterton on his championship-winning Seadoo RXP-X alongside fellow NSW racers Paul Leven and Paolo Lorenzutta. It was a nation-wide class with representation from QLD and WA also making the trip.  With James Masterton experiencing ski problems it was anyone’s race and Paul Leven on boat #99 from Dan’s Jet Power took it out for the day with a 1st place podium finish. 2nd and 3rd place was hotly contested and Yamaha rider Guy Greenland just collected 2nd place in front of Brendan Boyd on his animal Seadoo.

2014 Jetski Nationals 327A huge thanks has to go out to all the sponsors, officials, marshalls and volunteers that made this round possible. It was a great day to cap off the national tour and showcased our home-grown talent as well as putting the Australian Tour on the world stage.
