Now that it is getting closer to the AJSBA AGM it is probably time to mention that I will b e standing for the position of President and Roy Van Gorp (from South Australia ) will b e standing for the Vice President position.  We both believe that the AJSBA should be run according to the following points:

1. The AJSBA should only be a governing/licensing body.  Th e s tate clubs should run the events.

2. The AJSBA sets up a race committee which makes most of the decisions regarding racing. The executive committe e s hould have power to veto any race committee decisions, just in case they make any foolish decisions. But, personally I do not see why ther e s hould be any need to veto any decision made by half a dozen level headed people. The race committe e s hould consist of one member from each state club.  This member will be chosen by each state club to represent them.  The aim would be to conduct meetings over the internet once a month, at the very least, most likely they will need to be more often than that.  The AJSBA President and/or Vice President will take part in the meetings, by simply overseeing it. Only the race committee votes on any proposals and so makes a decision.  If the race committee is deadlocked on any proposal then it will be left to the executive committee to decide.

3. The nationals should be 2 separate events. The Flatwater Nationals and The Surf Nationals (World Motosurf).  These 2 events may or may not be held at th e s ame venue.

4. Each state club, that is interested, places a bid to stage either one or both of the events.  The race committee decides which one is the best bid.

For those of you that are wondering what experience Roy and I have, I shall point a few things out about us.

Roy :-

1.      Is the manager of a company for roughly 13 years now.

2.      Has been involved with jetskis for roughly 6 years.

3.      His son Robert Van Gorp has raced jetskis for roughly 3 years.

In my case:-

1.      I have been managing my own company for roughly 14 years now.

2.      I have been the VJSBA President for the last 2 years.

3.      I have been racing jetskis for roughly 6 years.
