Jet Pilot and Powersports Expo are in the negotiating stage to run the 2009 Freeride Australian Open.
The event will be held on the 20th or 21st of February at Broadbeach (or similar beach on the coast) to coincide with the Powersports Expo, where the Podium ceremony will take place after the event.
The event will consist of 16 stand up watercraft riders going head to head to get to the finals, which will be judged by 3 to 4 judges, by the likes of former pro freeriders Mark Tearle and Andrew Rapid Reid. The judging will be 50 % surf riding and 50% aerial tricks.
There will be a guest apperance from International freeriders to give the event a Global feel.
The invites will be decided by the riders attendance to the Cronulla Rip and Ride and the Jet Pilot South Staddie Freeride Session held in late November. This means that if you want a crack at competeing and getting your name in lights i suggest you get yourself to either of these two events for a chance at Big Prizes and most importantley the bragging rights of being Aussie Freeride Champ!
I will be on hand at both events to help riders reach there full potential and see this as the starting point to get our sport out to the public.
