SUNSHINE Coast councils have hit back at state government claims they have failed to establish jet ski exclusion zones for waterways.

A man is being questioned over a jet ski jump at Melton Weir last week which left another man with serious head injuries.

The 32 year old was reportedly helping police with their inquiries yesterday afternoon after detectives armed with a search warrant found a jet ski at a Kings Park house.

Witnesses told police a 36 year old man was struck in the head by a jet skier who tried to jump over the stern of a ski boat as it pulled into the beach on Thursday last week.

The jet skier fled the scene after the accident.

The victim is reported to be in a stable condition.

ImageWe are please to announce that entries are now being received for the 2007 Signage One National Capital Cup in Canberra.  The event will be held from Friday 2nd of February, through to Sunday the 4th of Feb 2007.  This year the event will also include an endurance race for runabouts on the Sunday, in addition to the regular circuit racing for runabouts and ski’s on the Saturday.  We have also organized a Friday evening practice session for the circuit racing. Once again, Australia’s best signage company, Signage One (13000 SIGNS) has supported the event as the naming rights sponsor.  We are currently accepting nominations for each of the class sponsors.  Should you wish to receive more information on this please contact me directly for an information brochure. This year we have also simplified the entry process by creating an electronic entry form.  It is set up in Microsoft Excel, and allows you to complete the form, save it, and send it back to me for processing.  More details in relation to this can be found on the entry form. The event has limited entries in each class, so first in best dressed.  Entries close on the 19th of January 2007 to allow for the relevant federal approvals to obtain access on Lake Burley Griffin. Please feel free to contact me if you require any further information in relation to the event.  We look forward to seeing you at this year’s event! Entry forms can be downloaded from the ozpwc forum under the Canberra Competition page.  Mark Glew
