Singer Sean Kingston in stable condition after Florida jetski crash

SINGER Sean Kingston was in stable condition today at a Miami hospital where he was admitted following a jetski accident.

His publicist, Joseph Carozza, issued a statement today that read in part, “Sean Kingston is now stabilised and has moved from the trauma unit to ICU. Sean’s family thanks everyone for their prayers and support during this time.”

Kingston, 21, was reportedly in critical condition on Sunday night at Jackson Memorial Hospital after his jetski crashed into a bridge, People said.

City of Miami Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene of the crash about 6pm local time on Sunday at the bridge connecting Miami Beach’s exclusive Palm Island to the MacArthur Causeway.

A second person, an unnamed woman, was also taken to hospital.

“A good Samaritan tended to the two of them until Miami Beach Fire Rescue arrived and saw there were injuries,” Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission spokesman Jorge Pino said.

The good Samaritan was Coast Guard member Jonathan Rivera, who was boating in the area at the time of Kingston’s crash.

Mr Rivera told entertainment website TMZ that he was called over to the accident scene by a man and a woman who were trying to hold Kingston up but were having difficulty keeping his head above water. He held onto Kingston for about 15 minutes until a police boat arrived on the scene.

Kingston was “convulsing and throwing up blood,” Mr Rivera said. The singer was responsive when Mr Rivera told him he would be OK, and repeated, “I’m going to be OK”.

Mr Pino said the Fish and Wildlife Commission is investigating the incident.

“Nothing indicates there was alcohol involved,” he said.

After reportedly being discovered on MySpace, Kingston, whose birth name was Kisean Anderson, had global success with Beautiful Girls, which was released in 2007. Kingston followed up the hit with the single Me Love.

Kingston has released two albums and recently performed live with pop sensation Justin Bieber, who tweeted his support today.

“Got my friend @seankingston in my prayers tonight,” Bieber wrote. “A true friend and big bro. Please keep him in your prayers tonight as well.”

Other celebrities wishing Kingston well included Rihanna, who tweeted, “Sean we praying for u baby,” her ex Chris Brown, and rapper Nicki Minaj, who wrote, “My love & prayers are with Sean Kingston & his family.”
