2015 AJSBA Yamaha Jetcross Tour Rd 3 & 4 – Sydney

The 2015 Australian Yamaha Jetcross Championships made it to Sydney rescheduled for the 28/29 March after the Queensland round was cancelled due to cyclone Marcia.

Organised by the AJSBA and hosted by NSW Personal Watercraft Club and sponsored by Yamaha, AJSP, Jetpilot and Photo By Skip the event was held on the last weekend in March at the St George Sailing Club at Sans Souci on Botany Bay in Sydney’s south.

Saturday – Round 3

Awesome weather in Sydney but numbers were a little dissapointing early Saturday morning after such a good turnout in Perth but it was still all hands on deck to make the Sydney rounds as exciting as possible, supported on the course and administation by NSWPWC, JSW and AJSBA members.

Showroom Stock Enduro is primarily a battle between the Waverunner Performance Centre and the Kawasaki Racing Team Australia with the latter proving victorious with Cameron Martin on his  Brisbane Jet Skis 301R and Jet Ski World’s Dane Alberti second also on a Kawasaki. Newcomer James Rice picked up a well deserved third place.

Stock Runabout was won by Yamaha’s Mitch Wayt who also won the Stock Enduro and is cementing his hold on the National series and a seriously fast reputation on his FZS SVHO Waverunner. NSWPWC’s Chinni Rao race to second with Brett Douglas third in this hard fought class.

Showroom Stock Runabout was won by Jet Ski World’s Dane Alberti on the Kawasaki 310R with Brisbane Jetskis Cameron Martin claiming the runner up position and James Rice in third.

Lites Ski was dominated by in form youngster and hard charger Tom Aitken from Kurt Eames and supermum Deb Barker in third.

Open Enduro was won by Brisbane Jet Skis Christian D’Agostin on his Kawasaki 310R but there is little in the way of competition for him.

Superjet Cup was clean sweeped 1-1-1 by Queensland’s Ryan O’Keefe who has a stranglehold on the class and quite obviously the man to beat in the race to win the 2015 Superjet.

Pro Open Ski was hit with low numbers with only South Australian Jake Barker and Central Coast’s Michael Stevens battling it out with Jake taking out the round win even with a DNF in the first moto when his Hydrospace broke a coupler.

Pro Open Runabout  was won by multi Australian champion Anthony Antees on his JSW Seadoo with Sydney hard charger Paul Leven riding the Dans Jetpower RXP-X to a well deserved second overall with WORX rider Guy Greenland third.

Sunday – Rd 4

Another great day in Sydney and numbers were up on Saturday as the action got underway in blazing sunshine and calm water conditions on Botany Bay.

Stock Runabout was again dominated by Yamaha’s Mitch Wayt on his FZS SVHO Waverunner but the seasoned ‘veteran’ and 8 time Australian champion Shane Stuart put in an amazing ride in his first outing aboard his FZS SVHO to claim runner up and make all the runners in this hotly contended class take notice. JSW’s Frank Waite claimed third on a Seadoo.

Stock Enduro was won by mister consistent Mitch Wayt (FZS SVHO) from Ben Mountford and Brett Douglas in third.

Showroom Stock Enduro was won by QLD hard charger Cameron Martin on his Brisbane Jetskis 310R from James Rice and Dane Alberti in third.

Showroom Stock Runabout Dane Alberti jumped up to claim the round 4 win with Cameron Martin taking out second and James Rice third.

Lites Ski was again dominated by the Sydney young gun Tommy Aitken who had a great weekend of racing winning rounds 3 and 4. Kurt Eames was second and again Deb Barker claimed third.

Open Enduro was won by Brisbane Jet Skis Christian D’Agostin on his Kawasaki 310R but there is little in the way of competition for him.

Superjet Cup was again clean sweeped by Queensland’s Ryan O’Keefe who has won all 4 rounds thus far in a convincing fashion and looks a shoe-in to win the 2015 Superjet that Yamaha is fronting up for the winner of this class.

Pro Open Ski Michael Stevens turned the tables on the Hydrospace of Jake Barker with a well deserved win despite Jake falling victim to engine trouble with his #1 ski.

Pro Open Runabout was won by Anthony Antees on his JSW Seadoo in an action packed round 4 with all open boats plagued with dramas that saw all 3 top contenders swap to their stock RXT-X Seadoo’s. Current Australian #1 James Masterton took second with Paul Leven slotting into third.
