2011 Surf Titles | Rip n Ride (Surf Slam)
2011 AJSBA Surf Titles/Rip n Ride (Surf Slam) has been run and won on the Sunshine Coast over the weekend (11/12 June). The event combined the Rip n Ride Freeride event on Saturday with the AJSBA Surf Titles on Sunday for a monster weekend of jetsports action.
Australia’s best freeriders braved cold, windy conditions at North Beach, Mudjimbah (behind the Novotel Twin Waters resort) on the Sunshine Coast on Saturday and tried valiantly to make something of the weak swell and freezing conditions but it was a lost cause. With the exception of a few standout tricks the boys had it tough and the best action came during the freeride competition on Sunday.
Contrary to predictions of more rain on Sunday, competitors and spectators were greeted by overcast conditions but no rain & no wind. Things continued to improve during the day with glimpses of sunshine breaking through & the swell building as the tide came in. The improved conditions were ideal for racing and freeride action and we got both.
